Principle of the procedure

COMP® ELISA, 14-1006-71

Background

COMP ELISA from AnaMar provides a method for the determination of Cartilage Oligomeric Matrix Protein (COMP) in human serum.

When articular cartilage matrix is degraded by a disease process, protein fragments are produced and diffuse out into the joint fluid. COMP subsequently appears in the blood circulation and can be used to monitor the progress of cartilage degradation in inflammatory joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA).

COMP ELISA is a solid phase two-site enzyme immunoassay. It is based on the direct sandwich technique in which two monoclonal antibodies are directed against separate antigenic determinants on the COMP molecule.
